Taste the Culture

Hey Guys,

It was a beautiful spring day last weekend when I went to the town of Greve in Chianti. It was a nice simple little town at the base of some rolling hills. In the town, my friends and I had lunch and saw the local sites. After lunch we went wine tasting. I tasted about 15 different wines and they were all great. We tasted some of the best wines the region had to offer with prosciutto and bread which complimented the wine quite nicely. After that my friends and I hiked up to the top of the hill to arrive in a small village called Montefioralle. As we wandered up the hill we were able to see some breath taking views of the surrounding vineyards and olive groves.

The point of this journey was to experience the Frittelle that the townspeople of Montefioralle cook up on one weekend a year around the celebration of St Joseph. As we ate our Frittelle, fried rice cakes flavoured with orange rind, and our Italian sweets, we toured the old castle. Chainti is the region between Florence and Siena. It is only about 50 minutes drive from Florence so when you are in Florence you should check it out. It is a really good time.

Ok see you around,

Paul
